Sculpture Ideas
- I was given an old set of paints by a friend who no longer had any use for them. Just the thought of these paints having an undetermined purpose was enough to get me hooked on the idea of painting. While I have only been painting for a few years, it has become a passion. Whether it is three minutes or three hours, this passion is something that has become an experimental outlet for me. The thought of mistakes or failures do not set me back, but rather push me forward in seeing what new creations I can come up with.
Farm Boy's Dream
Once a mural project designed to cover weathered graffiti painted by our son, it has since evolved over the previous winter months and is the subject of multiple concepts and ideas that I had studied.

COVID series
Something that has affected all of us to previously unheard of degree, COVID-19 marks a time of creation and contemplation for many artists. Whether that be video content to even poetry, COVID-19 is something that has changed how we view the creation of art, and my work has certainly been affected as well. The COVID Series marks an attempt to blend the artistic with the scientific nature of virus and work through some of the notable changes that have happened since beginning of quarantines, social distancing efforts, and full lockdowns across Canada and the world.

- The first piece of the COVID Series (75cm x 60cm) makes use of the RNA gene sequence ccucggcgggca, which was the mutation that created the spike on the COVID-19 virus. Each letter and nucleotide represents a day spent in social isolation (as of June 20th), with negative spaces representing days that I do not remember.
- The subsequent pieces of the COVID Series relate to the smart phone and the increased amount of screen time that has resulted from quarantine and social distancing efforts. Additionally, the use of smart phones also represents our near-instantaneous access to knowledge, but also our severe lack of knowledge when it comes to something that we are still attempting to understand. This piece’s background is of the coronavirus genome’s final sequence: aaaaaaaaaaaaa.
150 Canadian Skies
150 Canadian Skies marks the completion of an extensive art project started by Gordon to commemorate Canada’s sesquicentennial. Each individual painting is acrylic on watercolour paper (20cm x 28 cm). The collection is the basis for collages or other artistic expressions Bison Series
This series marks the invitation put out to Gordon by the Emma International Collaboration in 2018. Knowing that the subject needed to be large, the focus eventually became that of the bison, with the intention of reminding the viewer to remember the 30-60 million bison that once roamed North America, that became less than 1000 by 1900 due to European settler interference. . |
Forest for the Trees
I was wanted to paint a mural for our yard and settled on Farm Boy's Dreams. I did a study of trees and forests.

I was fascinated in the quality of the boxes that Smart Phones are packaged and how I can use the phones and the boxes in my art.
